HALIFAX – Last month we at Spacing Atlantic were urging our Halifax readers to get out to McNabs Island to help with their annual clean-up.   Now the time has come to reap the benefits of that enjoyable toil.  This Saturday the Friends of McNabs Island Society are inviting you to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a magical island picnic*.

Since 1990 the Society has been dedicated to promoting McNabs, Lawlor and Devils Islands as parklands and in 2002 their hard work paid off when McNabs and Lawlor Islands became Nova Scotia’s newest Provincial Park.  Fittingly, this Saturday is also Canada’s Parks Day so what better way to celebrate then with a wild island romp suitable for all ages?  The day is set to be filled with music, scavenger hunts (among other funny games), guided birding, nature walks, historical tours, ghost stories and a BBQ!  What more could you  possibly want from a Saturday?

Get a ticket- it gets you a day of fun on the island AND a ferry ride!
