Streetcar turnaround

According to the New York Times, North American streetcar use is on the rise. Citing the example of Cincinati’s streetcar resurgence, Monica Warzecha writes about the popularity of this time-honored means of urban transportation.

Atwood’s Toronto

Shawn Micallef has posted a link to a travel article on Toronto written in 1982 by Margaret Atwood, housed in the New York Times archives. Providing an account of the changing attitude towards this city with “a long history of being loathed,” Atwood also tells the story of how she began to see her once disdained hometown in a new light.

The “Hug Me” tree finds a new home

Last week I referred to an article about a tree on Queen Street. This week Matt Blackett fills readers in on the whereabouts of this treasured stump, which has been relocated to a studio in Parkdale by a woman with a particular attachment to it.
