Toronto’s 2009 budget

Mayor David Miller has announced his financial priorities for the upcoming year. Adam Chaleff-Freudenthaler outlines some of the budget’s details, which include increased service levels for the TTC, waterfront renewal and the redesign of Nathan Philips Square.

Nuit Blanche

Last Saturday Toronto witnessed a flock of roughly one million people eager to take part in Nuit Blanche’s events. The Toronto blog features a few documentary photo posts. As Matthew Blackett points out, the event spanned an enormous area of Toronto’s core, making it difficult to get the most out of the night without a detailed plan.

Subway decor

The TTC may not have capitalized on the marketing potential of the subway’s unique typography, but Torontonians certainly have.  Now not only can we show our love for transit by sporting Spacing’s TTC buttons; we can also have station names adorn our walls. Derek Watson has designed wall decals featuring names and tile work of a few of the city’s subway stations. Decals representing all 69 stations should be on the market soon.
