This Saturday, December 2 at 1:00p.m., arborist about town and Spacing contributor Todd Irvine of LEAF and local tree advocate Andrea Dawber of GreenHere are leading a tree tour of Dovercourt Park and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The tour will begin in Dovercourt Park, where, thanks to Dawber’s help, local residents have planted over 100 new trees over the past five years. Stops along the way will include a bed of trees and flowers where once there was grey asphalt, historical houses along Gladstone and Westmoreland, and a towering 200 year-old elm tree. We’ll return to Dovercourt Park by 3:00pm for a community bonfire. BYOM (Bring Your Own Marshmallows).

The guided walk, which will be given in English and translated into Portuguese, is a great opportunity to learn about Toronto’s urban forest and specific tree-related projects in the neighbourhood.

Suggested donation: $5 per person

Dovercourt Park is located between Bartlett Ave on the West and Westmoreland Ave on the East; South of Fernbank Ave, North of Southview Ave. If coming by transit take the Subway to Dufferin Station, and then walk north. Or view this map.
