To answer the question “What can be done to address Vancouver’s affordable housing crisis?” the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability launched the re:THINK HOUSING ideas competition.

Thursday, July 5th will mark the unveiling of the re:THINK HOUSING competition entries at the Exhibition Hall of the Roundhouse Community Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews).  This is your chance to see all of the entries and vote for your favourite.  Event runs from 7-10pm with doors open at 6:30.

Local authors Tyee Bridge, Luke Brocki, and poet laureate Evelyn Lau will provide unique reflections on housing in Vancouver in a short program hosted by CBC Radio One’s Shiral Tobin.  With music, mingling, and food carts on hand, this promises to be a fun, lively event.  A cash bar will be available.

The Roundhouse is easily accessed by TransLink (Yaletown-Roundhouse station on the Canada Line) and by bike (Seawall and Pacific bike routes).

An online survey will be available at www.placespeak.com/HousingTaskForce for the public to provide feedback on the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability’s interm report. Following the completion of the re:THINK Housing Ideas Competition in July, the Task Force will submit a final report to City Council in the fall that incorporates the re:THINK competition submissions and public feedback.
