After a packed summer of community events, Modo launches the sixth of its Sharing Stations at Metamorfest 2013 on Saturday, September 28. A community block party and festival, the event will celebrate and benefit Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House, whose goal is to make the neighbourhood a richer, vibrant place to live.

Taking over half a city block, on Prince Albert between Broadway and the 10th Avenue bike route, the Modo Sharing Station will convene three Modo Community Partners for a fun-filled afternoon of unique, people-focused programming in a dynamic shared space.

Modo Community Partners include The Vancouver Tool Library, offering live demonstrations on building a mobile workshop that can be hitched to a bike; the Living The New Economy Conference organizers, offering games and opportunities for dialogue around building resilient communities and economies; and Park-a-Park, which will provide its mobile parking-spot-sized parklet to serve as meeting and hang-out space. In addition, Modo will also set up a photobooth and activities for kids.

“Not only will we be offering a taste of the sharing economy,” says Hilary Henegar, Modo’s Marketing Director, “but as part of the Metamorfest festivities, the Sharing Station also demonstrates what our neighbourhoods might look like when fewer cars are on the road.”

Since 1976, Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH) has served its community with a spectrum of services, providing a safe, welcoming space in one of Vancouver’s most culturally diverse areas.

“We love the idea of Modo’s Sharing Station,” says Katayoon Yousefbigloo of Metamorfest. “It highlights local groups that are doing unique work to improve the quality of life in the city, and also offers a neat space for neighbours to meet and mingle while taking in cool programming.”

Metamorfest 2013 gathers local artists, businesses and community groups to share their stories and grow local networks in the neighbourhood served by MPNH. In addition to convening community partners for the Modo Sharing Station, Modo is sponsoring the Metamorfest 2013 main stage act, Vancouver-based and Mount Pleasant neighbours, Peace.
