Newmindspace is reworking the Calvalcade of Lights theme with a throwie workshop and action tonight (Friday, December 8th). Throwies, in case you don’t know, are little LEDs invented by the Graffiti Research Lab that “can stick to anything ferromagnetic and glove for about two weeks.” The goal is to create a thousand points of light. How nice. And they aren’t even running for leadership of a nation or political party (yet). So join ’em at Queen and Spadina, NE corner, tonight at 11:11pm.

Aren’t rare-earth magnets and lithium batteries a little toxic to leave corroding in the street?

ps – lithium is not a heavy metal.
All batteries made today are significantly less toxic than ones made before 1994. Lithium cell button batteries such as used in hearing aids and cameras (and throwies) are completely non-toxic.

Doesn’t mean that they don’t become trash that needs to be cleaned up and landfilled but newmindspace does have that under control.
I saw this in news. Seeming more like they were causing a disturbance not being artists.
