If the new streetcar designs that we posted about yesterday weren’t enough to get you hot, check out what the TTC is considering to replace their aging subway cars. A bunch of designs were presented during Wednesday’s TTC Commissioners meeting. The feature on the new cars that would be most different for us Torontonians is a continuous, open-concept subway train that would extend from front to rear (above image, right). TTC Commissioner Howard Moscoe says the new trains would have benches instead of individual seats, which would aleviate his concern about “our growing population” and whether overweight people can fit into the current designs.
