At first glance, the LumaHelm, pictured above may not be your cup of tea. The helmet&#8217;s lights draw attention while many of today&#8217;s fashionable cyclists choose a more understated look. But wait until you hear what it does. &#8220;The prototype is an off-the-shelf helmet that&#8217;s been augmented\u2014at once hacked and adorned\u2014with several LED strips, such that the array of 104 multicolored lights is mapped evenly onto the hemispherical surface.&#8221; Deliberate head motions activate lights on the left and right hemispheres, acting like left and right turn signals and brakes.
