No, they are not doing an impromptu <a href=\"http:\/\/pdcentre.ca\/2012\/08\/switch-open-street-sundays\/\">Switch<\/a> mob, but they are looking to reach out to HRM&#8217;s nascent 80,000 transit users. The 80,000 trips a day that we tend to forget about in this city.<\/p>\n<p>Why you ask is PDC going out to talk to transit users throughout HRM at key transit locations?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>PDC is looking to build support for both the <a href=\"http:\/\/pdcentre.ca\/2011\/09\/its-more-than-buses-session-3-outcomes\/\">It&#8217;s More than Buses<\/a> initiative and the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/pdcentre.ca\/2012\/06\/pdc-mayoral-candidate-debate\/\">Mayoral Debate: Moving on Transportation<\/a>, Monday. September 24th at Spatz Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Both projects are looking to mobilize change from the grassroots up in HRM and to bring about a shift (or <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/switchhfx\">Switch<\/a>) in the way we think about transportation in the region, and the type of public investments we make to facilitate this.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, at your usual transit transfer point, look out for people handing out pocket guides of what could be the transit network of the future, but only if we begin to develop a transit network that emphasizes dependability and frequency.<\/p>\n<p>If you have some energy to spare today to help the Planning and Design Centre or want to learn more, please sign up and get involved.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the link <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/IMTB-volunteer-sign-up\">http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/IMTB-volunteer-sign-up<\/a> and join the movement!<\/p>\n<p><em>It&#8217;s More than Buses<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/itsmorethanbuses\">It\u2019s More Than Buses<\/a> is based on the premise that a bold vision for the future of public transit in Halifax Regional Municipality needs to be championed by the residents who rely on the transportation system to meet their daily mobility needs, whether it\u2019s travel to work, school, health care, shopping, recreation or entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>High-quality transit is a vital ingredient in all great cities. Transit makes higher-density development livable and affordable, it reduces traffic congestion\u00a0and makes more places more accessible to more people.
