Edmonton launch party photos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, April 4th, <a href=\"http:\/\/thecommon.ca\" target=\"_blank\">The Common<\/a> hosted a capacity crowd of urbanists, planners, architects, and inquisitive Edmontonians to celebrate the launch of the first\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spacing<\/a> franchise in the prairie provinces, based in Edmonton. \u00a0Partners <a href=\"http:\/\/progressunlimited.ca\/\">Progress Unlimited<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/madeinedmonton.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">M.A.D.E. in Edmonton<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edmontonnextgen.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Edmonton NextGen<\/a>\u00a0helped bring the event together, while support from <a href=\"http:\/\/urbansystems.ca\" target=\"_blank\">Urban Systems<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/designdialog.ca\" target=\"_blank\">Dialog<\/a>\u00a0provided the wine and tasty Common catering.<\/p>\n<p>Following some words from Spacing founder, publisher, and creative director <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/matthew-blacketts-biography\/\" target=\"_blank\">Matthew Blackett<\/a>, Edmonton editor <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/edmonton\/author\/paulgiang\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Giang<\/a>\u00a0took to the microphone to introduce <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/ottawa\/author\/adambentley\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Bentley<\/a>&#8216;s short film <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JMuypJBFZgI\" target=\"_blank\">iCUP<\/a>\u00a0which explores new public washrooms in the Old Strathcona neighbourhood of Edmonton. \u00a0Adam also designed a full set of <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/edmonton\/2013\/04\/04\/spacing-edmontons-lrt-pins-and-magnets-now-arriving-on-all-tracks\/\" target=\"_blank\">magnets and pins<\/a>\u00a0based on each LRT stop in the city.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/edmonton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/04\/spacing-76.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-549\" alt=\"spacing-76\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/edmonton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/04\/spacing-76-600x400.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/northstreetcreative.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">North Street Creative<\/a> and their <a href=\"http:\/\/socialpulp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Social Pulp<\/a>\u00a0digital media app, we were treated to a dynamic mosaic of local imagery- a collection of user submitted photos of their favorite Edmonton spaces, as well as a live feed from Twitter and Instagram posts tagged #spacingyeg.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/edmonton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/04\/spacing-5-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-545\" alt=\"spacing-5-2\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/edmonton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/04\/spacing-5-2-600x399.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/edmonton\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/04\/spacing-5-2-600x399.jpg 600w, 940w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By the end of the evening, the attendance and conversations that were had demonstrated why Edmonton is the logical point of entry for Spacing in the prairies. \u00a0The young, discipline-diverse crowd made it clear that our interest in our city lies beyond what you may see on a map or tourism guide. \u00a0We love our city
