Bentley describes how the map was created and how he was able to  disseminate it so effectively.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Snowdon speculates on the intentions behind the million dollar decision to demolish the <a href=\"http:\/\/http\/\/spacingottawa.ca\/2011\/05\/13\/sculpture-set-to-trump-theatre-at-nepean-point\/\">Astrolabe Theatre <\/a>located  below the iconic statue of Samuel de Champlain at Nepean point  overlooking Parliament Hill. Although its clear that the theatre is  currently underused, the real intention behind its demolition may be to  pave the way for a sculpture garden for the National Gallery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"sa\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/media\/identity\/sidebar-head-atlantic.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"44\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Katie McKay provides a Jane&#8217;s Walk debrief on a Janet Barlow lead <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/atlantic\/2011\/05\/10\/walk-this-way-talk-this-way\/\">walk through a suburban development<\/a> where a lack of eyes on the street has caused residents to turn against  the pathway system designed to encourage pedestrianism. <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Crystal Melville profiles this year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/atlantic\/2011\/05\/12\/events-guide-carmichael-lecture\/\">Carmichael Lecture<\/a> presented by the Downtown Halifax Business Association. This year&#8217;s  lecture will focus on Urban Sprawl; it&#8217;s effects on downtown and how to  curb it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"st\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/ottawa\/media\/identity\/sidebar-head-toronto.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"44\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jake Schabas provides another great look into the most innovative planning initiatives going on in <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2011\/05\/12\/stories-from-the-big-apple-in-fine-company\/\">New York City<\/a> with a list of three of the most interesting NYC projects followed by  three Toronto based initiatives that are making a splash in the Big  Apple.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathon Goldsbie takes readers through the <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2011\/05\/11\/why-shelley-carroll-didnt-run-for-mayor\/\">back room politics<\/a> that played out in the lead up to last fall&#8217;s municipal election.
