{"id":13209,"date":"2012-02-10T12:00:19","date_gmt":"2012-02-10T17:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spacingmontreal.ca\/?p=13209"},"modified":"2013-01-21T11:45:41","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T16:45:41","slug":"sim-city-week-one-in-spacington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2012\/02\/10\/sim-city-week-one-in-spacington\/","title":{"rendered":"Sim City: Week One in Spacington"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Spacington: Week One\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Spacington-Apr.-4-041328819326.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"614\" height=\"461\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Welcome to Spacington\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/feature-sim-city.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"63\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not much of 21st century urban city yet, but in the first week of Spacington&#8217;s developments we have focused on a couple things.<\/p>\n<p>With the\u00a0amount of\u00a0great suggestions\u00a0we received since\u00a0Spacington&#8217;s launch\u00a0last week, we\u00a0have taken the\u00a0majority of them into consideration (skipping over\u00a0some of the more anti-Rob Ford suggestions such as adding ferris wheels and extensive subway to low-density neighbourhoods) and added the <em>Network Addon Mod<\/em>, the <em>Street Addon Mod<\/em>, and additional LRT stations\u00a0ensuring\u00a0the best possible\u00a0results.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve\u00a0past over the groundbreaking ceremony\u00a0and have spent the first week attempting\u00a0to\u00a0build\u00a0population growth, building\u00a0city staples\u00a0(fire, police, education, etc.), and\u00a0attempted to\u00a0keep some money in the bank \u2014 currently\u00a0we have $160,000 in funds, 400 people, a high major rating. The streets are short, walkable, and mixed used.\u00a0But as pointed out by our readers last week, part\u00a0of the limitations in the game is the restriction of\u00a0per lot\u00a0mixed-zoning. It&#8217;s either one\u00a0or the other.\u00a0To overcome this, we&#8217;ve simply considered\u00a0the whole\u00a0block, divided the commercial, residential, and industrial zoning in somewhat equal portions, and\u00a0gave\u00a0the <em>street<\/em>\u00a0a\u00a0multifaceted face.<\/p>\n<p>Spacington hasn&#8217;t yet adopted mass\u00a0transit (we just have 400 hundred people) but we&#8217;ve planned our\u00a0roads and streets\u00a0to\u00a0transition once the transit would be fully\u00a0utilized.\u00a0Like I said, we&#8217;ve added the &#8220;mod&#8221; additions to the game which they\u00a0look great and function well.
