(image: rue de la Commune durant la nuit blanche 2008). <\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--> <strong>21\/02 &#8211; CCA presents: Discovering the Unmonitored Underground City <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bill Brown of Surveillance Camera Players, a New York City-based group that investigates and maps surveillance cameras in urban spaces, leads participants on a guided tour through Montr\u00e9al\u2019s underground city, pointing out the locations of surveillance cameras and discussing the role of surveillance in public space. Is the underground city public space? Comment concilier la pr\u00e9servation du pass\u00e9 en construisant l\u2019avenir?\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Since 1975, H\u00e9ritage Montreal has worked to promote and protect architectural, historical, natural and cultural heritage in Greater Montreal. This heritage is the DNA of a city and in this sense it should be reflected in all urban interventions. Abstracting our heritage only contributes, in the long run, to destroying the city&#8217;s soul. Just about every museum, gallery, theatre and bar in downtown Montreal and on the Plateau are clamouring to lure people in from the cold. For those who&#8217;d rather embrace the wintry night, Parc Jean-Drapeau hosts tubing, skating, snowshoeing and a snowboard park, and there is outdoor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montrealenlumiere.com\/volets\/nuit_blanche\/ficheEve_fr.aspx?eveId=609&amp;q=maisonneuve\">ultimate Frisbee at the Olympic parc<\/a> as well as fireworks, sledding, and a Ferris wheel in the Old Port.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">CCA has a lineup of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cca.qc.ca\/pages\/Niveau3.asp?page=NuitBlanche2009&amp;lang=fra\">DJs and turntable workshops, projections, video games, films, lectures, family activities, a bus tour organized buy the Ordre des Architectes de Qu\u00e9bec ($10) and a mobile sugar shack<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Two free tours byKaleidoscope look at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montrealenlumiere.com\/volets\/nuit_blanche\/ficheEve_fr.aspx?eveId=507&amp;q=vieux\">artworks in downtown metro stations<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montrealenlumiere.com\/volets\/nuit_blanche\/ficheEve_fr.aspx?eveId=500&amp;q=plateau\">explore the back alleyways of Michel Tremblay&#8217;s Plateau<\/a>.
