{"id":2195,"date":"2009-03-09T00:33:17","date_gmt":"2009-03-09T04:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spacingmontreal.ca\/2009\/03\/09\/devimco-scraping-project-unless-city-pitches-in-expropriation-orders-lifted\/"},"modified":"2013-01-21T11:36:56","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T16:36:56","slug":"devimco-scraping-project-unless-city-pitches-in-expropriation-orders-lifted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2009\/03\/09\/devimco-scraping-project-unless-city-pitches-in-expropriation-orders-lifted\/","title":{"rendered":"Devimco scrapping project unless city pitches in, expropriation orders lifted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spacingmontreal\/3340516590\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3335\/3340516590_28426ee2ff.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bad news for Devimco&#8217;s proposed 1.3 billion dollar redevelopment keeps piling up with last week possibly being the tipping point.\u00a0 After being forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2009\/01\/22\/devimco-to-scale-back-griffintown-project\/\">scale back phase 1<\/a> of the plan due to an ailing economy, <em>La Presse<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberpresse.ca\/actualites\/regional\/montreal\/200903\/01\/01-832343-pas-de-griffintown-sans-laide-de-la-ville.php\">reported<\/a> last week that unless the city pitches in with money to add green space to the Lachine Canal and go ahead with the tramway along Peel, they&#8217;ll pack up and head back to Brossard to do more work on their <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2007\/07\/24\/goodbye-griffintown%E2%80%A6\/\">Dix30<\/a> &#8220;lifestyle centre&#8221;.\u00a0 &#8220;J&#8217;ai multipli\u00e9 par cinq la valeur de tous leurs terrains \u00e0 mes frais. J&#8217;ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9pens\u00e9 10 millions dans ce projet. J&#8217;ai pris des risques.
