Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.scribd.com\/doc\/241454849\/Coroner-s-report-on-death-of-cyclist-Mathilde-Blais\" target=\"_blank\">prouv\u00e9<\/a> par son investigation que cette mort n\u2019est ni la faute du chauffeur du camion, ni celle de la pauvre cycliste. Le chauffeur du camion, au pire, n\u2019aurait pas respect\u00e9 une distance raisonnable entre la cycliste et son camion. La cycliste, qui empruntait ce trajet tous les jours, roulait de mani\u00e8re s\u00e9curitaire. Il s\u2019agit donc d\u2019un d\u00e9c\u00e8s r\u00e9sultant d\u2019une omission. L\u2019omission de s\u00e9curiser des espaces conflictuels, voire mortels.<\/p>\n<p>Ce d\u00e9c\u00e8s est tragique, mais malheureusement peu surprenant. Quiconque franchit le viaduc Saint-Denis \u00e0 v\u00e9lo se retrouve coinc\u00e9 entre un mur de b\u00e9ton et la voie de circulation. L\u2019endroit est mal \u00e9clair\u00e9 et les v\u00e9hicules acc\u00e9l\u00e8rent dans la c\u00f4te. La seule pr\u00e9sence d\u2019un nid de poule, d\u2019une chauss\u00e9e glissante ou d\u2019un camion est suffisante pour rendre le trajet potentiellement tragique.<\/p>\n<p>Oui, la circulation des v\u00e9los sur le trottoir a \u00e9t\u00e9 autoris\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019improviste apr\u00e8s l\u2019accident. Cela change peu de choses \u00e0 la situation actuelle. Il est d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9sagr\u00e9able pour les pi\u00e9tons d\u2019emprunter le trottoir sous le viaduc Saint-Denis; faire de ce trottoir une piste partag\u00e9e est improductif. Il est irr\u00e9aliste qu\u2019un cycliste qui utilise le v\u00e9lo comme mode de transport utilitaire doive marcher \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de son v\u00e9lo avec les pi\u00e9tons, poussettes et joggeurs. D\u2019ailleurs, Radio-Canada <a href=\"http:\/\/ici.radio-canada.ca\/regions\/montreal\/2014\/05\/21\/004-cyclistes-viaduc-trottoir.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">a co<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/ici.radio-canada.ca\/regions\/montreal\/2014\/05\/21\/004-cyclistes-viaduc-trottoir.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">nstat\u00e9<\/a> sans surprise qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019approche du viaduc Saint-Denis, les cyclistes pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent encore continuer leur chemin sur la chauss\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les recommandations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Parmi les recommandations du coroner se trouve la pose syst\u00e9matique de jupettes sous les camions, afin de limiter les chances de chute sous les roues. L\u2019id\u00e9e est bonne\u00a0: comme le port du casque, \u00e7a limite la gravit\u00e9 des blessures, mais pas les accidents.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le registre de la pr\u00e9vention, le coroner met l\u2019accent sur la distance minimale \u00e0 respecter entre les voitures et les cyclistes, alors que <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montrealgazette.com\/technology\/Letter+Mathilde+Blais+death+wake+call+need\/10252088\/story.html?__federated=1\" target=\"_blank\">certains<\/a> appellent \u00e0 plus de vigilance des usagers de la route, \u00e0 davantage de courtoisie et de pr\u00e9sence polici\u00e8re, etc. Ces recommandations sont int\u00e9ressantes mais ne changent que fort peu de choses \u00e0 la situation\u00a0: ce viaduc est dangereux.<\/p>\n<p>La recommandation la plus pertinente du coroner est celle qui demande que soit favoris\u00e9e (encore un terme mou) la cr\u00e9ation de corridors de circulation s\u00e9curitaires pour les cyclistes dans l&#8217;am\u00e9nagement urbain. \u00c0 cela s\u2019ajoute la traditionnelle question\u00a0: est ce qu\u2019il faut <a href=\"http:\/\/tvanouvelles.ca\/\/infos\/regional\/archives\/2002\/02\/20020204-175453.html\" target=\"_blank\">atteindre 250 accidents<\/a> avant de modifier une structure dangereuse ?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Au del\u00e0 des recommandations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La supr\u00e9matie de la fluidit\u00e9 des transports motoris\u00e9s, le manque d\u2019ouverture du CN sur sa communaut\u00e9, la molesse politique de la Ville de Montr\u00e9al, la difficult\u00e9 de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ledevoir.com\/politique\/montreal\/376119\/les-cyclistes-attendront-encore-un-an\" target=\"_blank\">trouver des entrepreneurs<\/a> et tant d\u2019autres bonnes et surtout moins bonnes raisons sont le r\u00e9sultat de la situation actuelle.
