The film can be viewed at the NFB&#8217;s <\/em><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfb.ca\/cinerobotheque\/\"><em>CineRobotheque<\/em><\/a> at the corner of de Maisonneuve and St-Denis.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>News about the proposed Griffintown redevelopment is once again piling up so, here, in chronological order are all the news stories of interest concerning the project as well as meeting times, and other announcements since my last roundup:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb. 6:<\/strong> Le Devoir <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ledevoir.com\/2008\/02\/06\/174878.html\">critiques Devimco\u2019s redevelopment plan<\/a> and gives examples of times in the past when public pressure and resistance has stopped unpopular developments.  The Gazette also runs a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/components\/print.aspx?id=27c70759-f409-4f30-91e7-337a74dc953f&amp;k=16184\">story concerning upcoming public consultations<\/a> and another about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/components\/print.aspx?id=c4c2f6e2-f39d-464d-abcc-1bd191b4ba27&amp;k=20560\">formation of a group of residents<\/a> planning on fighting the project called the Committee for the Sustainable Redevelopment of Griffintown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb 7:<\/strong> Le Journal writes a <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.canoe.com\/cgi-bin\/imprimer.cgi?id=343550\">short piece<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.canoe.com\/cgi-bin\/imprimer.cgi?id=343550\"> on the proposed tramway<\/a>, Le Devoir runs a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ledevoir.com\/2008\/02\/07\/175032.html\">pro-Devimco op-ed<\/a>, and The Gazette <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/components\/print.aspx?id=2be9a34d-2405-4d67-8b5a-005249f06e25&amp;k=87849\">reports on a U.S. company<\/a> that is interested in opening a large private medical clinic specalising in \u201cmedical tourism\u201d in one of the planned office towers. Developer Roland Hakim also comments that Griffintown, if redeveloped, \u201cwill become the new downtown core.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb. 8:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radio-canada.ca\/regions\/montreal\/version_imprimable.asp?nv=\/regions\/Montreal\/2008\/02\/08\/003-projet-bassin-peel.xml\">Another developer<\/a> pitches a plan to redevelop the area around the Peel Basin reports Radio-Canada. Development firm Roland Hakim et Associ\u00e9s wants to build an \u201cultramoderne\u201d private hospital, a tramway, a 500 room hotel, and a 60 storey tower (which I assume would serve some sort of purpose).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb 9:<\/strong> La Press <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberpresse.ca\/article\/20080209\/CPACTUALITES\/802090836\/5910\/CPACTUALITES\">talks at length<\/a> about how Devimco\u2019s redevelopment scheme will be highly beneficial to big business.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb. 11:<\/strong> The McGill Daily, as part of its <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/?p=602\">special issue on housing<\/a>, gives a good <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcgilldaily.com\/view.php?aid=7018\">rundown<\/a> on the whole redevelopment scheme.  Excellent reading for anyone not familiar with what is happening and some of the problems associated with the project.  They also run a couple <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcgilldaily.com\/view.php?aid=7032\">editorial<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcgilldaily.com\/view.php?aid=7036\">pieces<\/a> that are each highly critical of the project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb. 13:<\/strong> Although Griffintown is not mentioned directly, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/components\/print.aspx?id=c8dc1894-31b3-4f00-8411-674382c08d57&amp;k=5631\">the Public Consultation office\u2019s recommendations<\/a> that the city have an overall plan for development in the city could have a significant impact on how the area is redeveloped.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feb. 21:<\/strong> The first in a series of public consultations will be held at \u00c9TS on Notre-Dame and Peel at 7PM in Hall A.  This promises to be a very interesting and well-attended meeting. Devimco will apparently be unveiling a totally revamped plan taking into consideration criticism given to their previous plans.  The Sud-Ouest borough portal has a whole <a href=\"http:\/\/ville.montreal.qc.ca\/portal\/page?_pageid=81,13491985&amp;_dad=portal&amp;_schema=PORTAL\">list<\/a> of the various meetings they have lined up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211;<\/strong>As mentioned above, the group created to fight Devimco\u2019s redevelopment plan, The Committee for the Sustainable Redevelopment of Griffintown is holding regular meetings and has just launched a <a href=\"http:\/\/csrgriffintown.wordpress.com\/\">blog<\/a>.  If you\u2019re interested in getting involved, there is contact information on the site.  Also, A.J.
