Chief among them are two key initiatives that will change the face of Parc Lahaie in Mile End.<\/p>\n<p>This park is located at the corner of St-Laurent and St-Joseph in front of the <a href=\"http:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\u00c9glise_Saint-Enfant-J\u00e9sus_du_Mile-End\">Saint-Enfant-J\u00e9sus<\/a> Church. Parc Lahaie is in the historic core of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanphoto.net\/blog\/2007\/01\/01\/welcome-to-mile-end\/\">Saint-Louis-du-Mile-End<\/a> and it is, along with Parc Saint-Michel, one of the only parks in the modern-day neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<p>To increase the size of the park and push traffic off neighbouring residential streets, the borough has announced that it will permanently close to automobiles the stretch of St-Dominique that runs between the park and the church. This summer the park will also host a<a href=\"http:\/\/marchefermier.ca\/site\/a-propos\/ou-sommes-nous\/\"> new farmers&#8217; market <\/a>on Thursday evenings starting on June 17th. Last summer this group organised a highly successful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leplateau.com\/Industrie-agroalimentaire\/2009-07-04\/article-994734\/Premier-marche-fermier-sur-le-Plateau\/1\">Sunday market<\/a> at the St-Jean-Baptiste school at Laval and Marianne. This year, they&#8217;ve decided to continue the market and expand into Mile End. As well as fresh, locally-grown produce, the markets will feature live music from local groups.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"St-Dominique ferm\u00e9 by Spacing Montr\u00e9al, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spacingmontreal\/4637063423\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4022\/4637063423_4665f070df.jpg\" alt=\"St-Dominique ferm\u00e9\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Late last week city workers installed new<\/em> entr\u00e9e interdite<em> signs on St-Dominique.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This weekend the project officially got under way with the closure of St-Dominique to traffic. For the time being the street will be painted over in green in advance of a more thorough renovation of the park next year.
