Lorinc examines the Mayor&#8217;s claim  that  the  Eglington line will run from Leaside to Forest Hill and  contrasts  it  against the recent actions of Metrolinx and his forecast  for the   Province&#8217;s political future.<\/p>\n<p>In a call to action Hillary Best<a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2010\/05\/23\/complete-streets-what-they-are-and-why-we-need-them\/\"> advocates the idea of &#8216;Complete Streets&#8217; <\/a>as was discussed during a    recent conference held by the Toronto Coalition for Active    Transportation. Best shows that the more we understand the idea of    complete streets, the more apparent becomes their necessity to the    future vitality of the region.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"spacing atlantic\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/media\/identity\/sidebar-head-atlantic.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"44\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Steve Bedard promotes the <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/atlantic\/2010\/05\/27\/halifax-open-street-party\/\">Halifax    Open Street Party<\/a>, happening this weekend in the city&#8217;s North   Commons. The event is hosted by the Halifax Cycling Coalition and The   Bike Week Planning Council.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"spacing ottawa\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/media\/identity\/sidebar-head-ottawa.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"44\" \/><\/p>\n<p>David McClelland ponders the future of the Ottawa LRT by talking   about <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/ottawa\/2010\/05\/25\/on-lrts-and-architecture\/\">the   importance of engaging station design<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>. Spacing&#8217;s Alanah Heffez reviews  the new  space bringing up both <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2010\/05\/27\/place-des-festivales-on-an-ordinary-day\/\">good<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2010\/05\/27\/place-des-festivals-who-moved-the-trees\/\">bad<\/a> about the realized version of the square.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/ottawa\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/>Setting the stage for future investments in public space, the    council of the Plateau neighbourhood recently announced <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2010\/05\/25\/parc-lahaie-transformation-underway\/\">interesting    plans<\/a> to expand a park in an area lacking in green space by   closing  off a street that runs beside it.
