In Toronto the map is simple, because there are only 69 stations  compared to New York&#8217;s 486.\u00a0 Which is why graphic designer Eddie Jabbour  <a href=\"http:\/\/radar.oreilly.com\/2010\/07\/redesigning-the-new-york-city.html\">wants to redesign New Yorks map<\/a> \u2014 to make it less intimidating.<\/p>\n<p>John Lorinc compiled <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2010\/08\/03\/lorinc-where%E2%80%99s-the-open-debate-about-open-fare\/\">a pros and cons list<\/a> for both the Presto smartcard and open fare payment systems that are being proposed as fare alternatives for the TTC.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"montreal\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/media\/identity\/sidebar-head-montreal.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"44\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00c9mile Thomas lists the <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2010\/08\/04\/school-yourself-5-books-you-should-have-read-about-your-urban-space\/\">top five books<\/a> about urban spaces.
