So why not open up some space for chatting with a fellow traveller?<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Nearly every large North American city has a phantom highway: an unbuilt or torn down expressway which influenced the trajectory of development in one way or another. The article features three beautiful video tributes to Stockholm, Detroit and Toronto.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0For those who measure the year in routes and tracks,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetransportpolitic.com\/2011\/01\/03\/opening-and-construction-starts-planned-for-2011\/  \" target=\"_self\">The Transport Politic<\/a> has a map and calendar of every North American transit construction project scheduled for 2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/streetsblog.net\/2011\/01\/12\/a-new-model-londons-cycle-superhighways-boost-cycling-70-percent\/  \" target=\"_self\">Streetsblog<\/a> applauds London&#8217;s bike superhighways and encourages Toronto to take a look at the 70% increase in cycling along said routes in weighing the costs of its own bike lane development.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Urban demographic change is occurring cities the world over.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/opencities.britishcouncil.org\/web\/index.php?monitor_en  \" target=\"_self\">OPENCities <\/a>aims to identify links between these demographic changes and governance, internationalization and competitiveness.
