An otherwise casual walk down one of these streets has become a surreal experience, animating the entire street as a more convivial public space.<\/p>\n<p>Could some declining Canadian streets benefit from similar creative, seasonal installations? One Canadian example that has been a huge success was conceived by the Montreal firm, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.claudecormier.com\/projects\">Claude Cormier<\/a>:\u00a0their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.claudecormier.com\/project\/pink-balls\/\">summer installation for Le village in Montreal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Via <a href=\"http:\/\/designtaxi.com\/news\/359081\/Red-British-Phoneboxes-Turned-Into-Blue-Time-Machines-Free-WiFi-Hubs\/\">DesignTAXI<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mymodernmet.com\/profiles\/blogs\/agueda-portugal-colorful-canopies-umbrellas\">My Modern Met<\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Urban Planet is a roundup of blogs from around the world dealing specifically with urban environments.
