According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historicplaces.ca\/en\/rep-reg\/place-lieu.aspx?id=17422\"><em>Canada&#8217;s Historic Places<\/em><\/a>, &#8220;Pathways, flower beds and an ornamental summerhouse were added behind the buildings in subsequent years, although the flower beds and summerhouse are no longer present, as parking needs replaced much of the early landscape design.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A replica of one of the summer houses built\u00a0remains behind Centre Block.<\/p>\n<p>Images of the various summer houses which once doted Parliament Hill and the surrounding area can be found on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collectionscanada.gc.ca\/lac-bac\/results\/images?form=images_simple&amp;lang=eng&amp;startRecord=1&amp;sortBy=score+desc&amp;digitalContentInd=1&amp;query=ottawa+summer+house&amp;mediaType=\">Library and Archives Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Image:\u00a0Summer House Location:\u00a0Parliament Hill, Ottawa Date of photo:\u00a0Pre 1900 (exact date unknown) Photographer\/Source:\u00a0Samuel J.
