With September marking the start of a new academic year, the past weeks have seen the announcement of multiple public, design-based lecture series and events in the Capital.<\/p>\n

Forum Lecture:<\/strong> Returning this year, the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism has announced a full line-up of both Canadian and international speakers for their Forum Lecture Series<\/em>, held at the National Gallery of Canada. This year’s list of speakers include: Jill Stoner (Director, Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism \u2013 September 21), Alvin Huang (Synthesis Design + Architecture), Siamak Hariri (Hariri Pontarini), Ricardo Carvalho + Joana Vilheno (Arquitectos), and Jeanne Gang (Studio Gang Architects), among others.<\/p>\n

Urban Forum: <\/strong>Ottawa’s Urban Forum<\/em> will begin the 2015\/16 season with a lecture by esteemed architect Jack Diamond of Diamond Schmitt Architects on Wednesday, September 30th, at Lansdowne’s Horticulture Building. In the lead up to the lecture series,\u00a0Urban Forum\u00a0<\/em>is also promoting the Council on Tall Buildings and Habitat<\/em>‘s ‘Global Warm Weather speaces Walking Tours: Ottawa” on Thursday, September 17th.<\/p>\n

Capital Urbanism Lab:\u00a0<\/strong>Stemming from the National Capital Commission’s successful Urbanism Lab,\u00a0Capital Urbanism Lab<\/em>\u00a0has announced a ten-part lecture series beginning October 10th, with a lecture by Larry Beasley and Jonathan Barnett on “Eco Design for Cities and Suburbs”. According to the NCC<\/a>: “The Lab provides a creative forum where leaders, experts and the public can share knowledge and ideas about how to build a great capital.”<\/p>\n
