Covering the entire island and surrounding region, the map is  a fascinating look not only into cycling in the 19th century but also how 20th century planning altered the  city.<\/p>\n<p>Alanah Heffez profiles a fascinating <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2010\/10\/07\/event-guide-back-alley-photo-exhibit\/\">alleyway art installation<\/a> featuring turn of the century photographs displayed in the places  from which they were taken. The somewhat neglected alleyway setting  provides for a unique link to the past as it has avoided renovations  that have altered the street front.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"st\" src=\"..\/media\/identity\/sidebar-head-toronto.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"44\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Two posts touched on the need for new approach to planning in the  city this week. Dale Duncan talks about the need for voters to ask  candidates how they will <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2010\/10\/07\/election-getting-passionate-about-planning\/\">engage citizens in the planning process<\/a>. John Lorinc talks about a recent proposal by Paul Bedford to implement New York style <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2010\/10\/04\/lorinc-the-governance-debate-we%e2%80%99re-not-having\/\">community boards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nadia Halim recounts the adventure of a recent Thursday night <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2010\/10\/05\/notes-from-a-psychogeographical-thursday-night-in-toronto-quicksand-included\/\">psychogeographic walk <\/a>in Toronto. The tale comes complete with quick sand, celeb sightings, and of course:\u00a0lesbian Wiccan \u00a0poetry readings.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"so\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/media\/identity\/sidebar-head-ottawa.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"44\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Evan Thornton talks about the <a href=\"..\/2010\/10\/08\/iwantamayorwho-isnt-afraid-to-join-the-fray\/\">#iwantamayorwho<\/a> twitter forum that has become an interesting forum for discussion of   the mayoral election.
