Cribbing madly from John Leaning’s “Hintonburg and Mechanicsville: A Narrative History<\/a>“, and the Hintonburg Community Association<\/a> website we’ve come up with our first trip designed for users of the Gowalla<\/a> location-based social network.<\/a><\/p>\n

The trip is called “Hintonburg’s Built Heritage” and it has eleven check-ins including two structures designed by Francis Sullivan, the only Canadian student of architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Other highlights include an art-deco tavern, a geological fault line, and something that just came over us in a strange sort of Samuel de Champlain moment\u00a0 — it’s a completely new landmark we made up all on our own –we call it the “Lowrey Street Lookout”.<\/p>\n

You can see the tour here<\/a>, though it is best enjoyed from the smart phone app.<\/p>\n

Of course, as with most information in the social media age, the trip is a mutable artifact, so we’d love to see your corrections if you think we got a date or a name wrong, or hear about it if you think we’ve left out something important.<\/p>\n
