Son environnement a par contre matur\u00e9 avec l\u2019ajout du Ch\u00e2teau Laurier qui fut construit de 1909 \u00e0 1912. Parall\u00e8lement, le paysage sur la rive-nord du pont Alexandra a beaucoup \u00e9volu\u00e9. Le pont Alexandra fut exclusivement ferroviaire jusque dans les ann\u00e9es 50. En 1966, aucun train ne pourra plus jamais l\u2019utiliser.<\/p>\n<p>Fait important \u00e0 noter, le Canal Rideau n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 \u00e0 des fins militaires m\u00eame si il s\u2019agissait de son intention premi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p><em>Looking north at the Rideau Canal, the canal itself has not changed much. However, its surroundings have matured with the addition of the Chateau Laurier, which was built between 1909 and 1912. It is also worth noting that the landscape on the other side of the river went through drastic changes. Until the late 1950s, the Alexandra Bridge was used only by trains.
