As\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/blogs\/babbage\/2012\/01\/crowd-dynamics?fsrc=scn%2Ftw%2Fte%2Fbl%2Fwalkthisway \">The Economist<\/a>\u00a0reports, improvements to Oxford Circus and Exhibition Road have required a fundamental re-examination of pedestrian &#8220;desire lines&#8221; &#8211; the paths individuals choose to take, as opposed to the ones they are intend to. Desire lines generally favour visibility, long sight lines and constant direction.
