{"id":1069,"date":"2006-08-10T13:29:36","date_gmt":"2006-08-10T17:29:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spacingtoronto.ca\/?p=1069"},"modified":"2006-08-10T13:29:36","modified_gmt":"2006-08-10T17:29:36","slug":"cyclists-wanted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2006\/08\/10\/cyclists-wanted\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclists Wanted!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As was <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/?p=1024\">posted<\/a> earlier in Spacing, Queen&#8217;s Quay west from Spadina to York will be partially closed to car traffic  from August 11 &#8211; 20th as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.towaterfront.ca\/splash.php\">Quay to the City: Summer 2006<\/a> event, and as a sign of good things to come for the  waterfront.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/biketoronto.ca\/images\/content\/555\/QQ_lawn.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Car traffic will be replaced with bike lanes, as well as a kilometre-long stretch of 12,000 red geraniums and a picnic lawn the length of almost ten football fields.<\/p>\n<p>Two four-storey sculptures built with more than 600 bicycles will highlight the temporary new section of the popular Waterfront Trail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Saturday, August 12th at 9 am cyclists are invited to come down to the waterfront to help officially open this extension of the Waterfront Trail.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Everyone should meet at the bike arch at York and Queen&#8217;s Quay.
