The Scarborough Mirror has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insidetoronto.com\/to\/scarborough\/story\/3646562p-4216004c.html?loc=scarborough\">report on it<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Several Scarborough councillors, who met Tuesday with Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) officials in a closed-door meeting to discuss transit options for the area, are now saying that creating a network of LRT lines is the way to go.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think today&#8217;s meeting is really the death of the Scarborough subway and the birth of massive public transit in Scarborough. And that, for me, is incredibly exciting,&#8221; TTC Commissioner and Ward 38 Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker (Scarborough Centre) said following the meeting at the Scarborough Civic Centre&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We all wanted the subway but I think cold, hard reality has set in,&#8221; De Baeremaeker said.<\/p>\n<p>Ward 37 Councillor Michael Thompson (Scarborough Centre) maintains councillors have to be &#8220;prudent and practical&#8221; when examining options for the future of transit in the area.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It would be ideal to have the complete network and the subway,&#8221; he said, adding that option isn&#8217;t financially possible.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson added that TTC staff is recommending a network of services to meet the area&#8217;s needs rather than the creation of one costly subway line.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Photo by Calum Tsang from <a href=\"http:\/\/transittoronto.org\">Transit Toronto<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We wrote the other day about a closed-door meeting about the future of the Scarborough RT.
