No passive-aggressive parks allowed!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/parks\/images\/labyrinth.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Design Exchange is still seeking participants for their Passive Park Design Charette happening October 24 (next Tuesday) at the DX. That&#8217;s right, the call is for passive parks only, so all designs for benches that break when you sit on them, sliently seething groundskeepers, or seesaws that catapult you off into traffic will have to be put on hold for now. (In truth, a passive park is not one necessarily suited only to complete catatonia &#8212; walking, bird watching and picnicking may also be encouraged, even if copy editors become annoyed.)<\/p>\n<p>OK, here&#8217;s the real details: <em> <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> This call seeks 5 teams, each led by a landscape architect and consisting of design professionals, community members and students who are interested in a neighbourhood context that can benefit from visionary and socially inclusive design schemes. Individuals working in the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, urban and regional design\/planning as well as those who are engaged in more specialized areas of study, such as youth services, accessibility and health care, are highly encouraged to participate. Participating teams will receive an honorarium of $500, and the winning concept will receive a $2,000 award. The team projects will be featured in an exhibition at Design Exchange in February, 2007.
