Only bad things comes from auto congestion: pollution, idling, missed dinners, flared tempers, etc. For those of you that need to take the highway regularly, you will appreciate this website: the City of Toronto  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.city.toronto.on.ca\/rescu\/\">lets you look at the flow of traffic<\/a> along the Gardiner Expressway, Lake Shore Boulevard, and the Don Valley Parkway from any camera that you wish. The image above, just outside the SkyDome, is being updated as the day goes on.<\/p>\n<p>Another feature on the City&#8217;s website is the <strong>Remote Traffic Information System<\/strong> (RTIS). Get this: it uses <em>sensors buried in the road to measure the average speed of traffic<\/em> traveling along Lake Shore and the Gardiner and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.city.toronto.on.ca\/trafficimages\/rtis.htm\">sends the data to a real-time web page<\/a> that displays a traffic report. This is all cool stuff, but we&#8217;re afriad to ask how much these traffic toys cost us, and maybe some of that money may be better spent on things like cycling infrastructure or pedestrian zones.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We at Spacing hate to see traffic jams.
