They are:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/culture\/groundsforart\/images\/XXu.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Xin Xu, sanitary cover design<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/culture\/groundsforart\/images\/RZamic.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rene Zamic, water valve cover design<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/culture\/groundsforart\/images\/DFlake.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>DeMuth Flake, storm cover design<\/p>\n<p>You can see the shorlisted entrants by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/culture\/groundsforart\/index.htm#\">here<\/a> or by visiting the exhibition of same at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontofreegallery.org\/\">TFG<\/a> until January 21 (this Sunday). You&#8217;ll also be able to see them all over Regent Park as the development there continues.<\/p>\n<p>And if you prefer your art on solid waste rather than liquid waste infrastructures (hey people, no judgment, we&#8217;re all part of the spectrum!) look out for these sweet &#8220;vine people&#8221; on trash and other materials around Bloor and Lansdowne.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"370\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/images\/vinepeople.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The viners are part of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dyanmarie.com\/spotculture\/store.html\">Spot Culture<\/a> project by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dyanmarie.com\/\">Dyan Marie<\/a>, an artist and curator who lives in the area and founded the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digin.ca\/\">DIG IN<\/a> neighbourhood activist group. On one level it&#8217;s nice because the vine people&#8217;s leaves are based on those of trees, shrubs and vines found in the nabe. And on another level it&#8217;s nice to see graffiti on something other than a wall. Let macho abstract <em>artistes<\/em> use the hard brick. I&#8217;ll take the humble yet poignantly powerful graffiti mattress!
