Here\u2019s our round-up of posts from the last seven days.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/spacingmedia.com\/uploads\/images\/line-grey-1pixel-600wide.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 First up, John Lorinc looks towards <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/votes\/2010\/10\/04\/lorinc-the-governance-debate-we%E2%80%99re-not-having\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rob Ford and his possible governance<\/a> tactics, if elected mayor, of course. Good governance is a bit of a sore point for many Torontonians and Ford at the helm with his &#8220;muddled headed ideas&#8221; might not serve for the better. But there is a saving grace. As chief planner Paul Bedford recently opined, the changing of the guard at City Hall can serve well for a constructive debate surrounding the city&#8217;s governance. Fingers crossed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Unlike governance, there has been chatter around cycling in this mayoral race. A good deal, argues Mike Radoslav in\u00a0analyzing\u00a0each of the <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/votes\/2010\/10\/06\/cycling-around-the-candidates\/\" target=\"_blank\">candidate&#8217;s cycling platforms<\/a>. Who&#8217;s promising what? Who&#8217;s promising to tear down what? And how has Ford changed his original thoughts on biking in the city with his now-infamous <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nySs1cEq5rs&amp;feature=related\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;swimming with the sharks&#8221;<\/a> video. I know you&#8217;re curious, so <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/votes\/2010\/10\/06\/cycling-around-the-candidates\/\" target=\"_blank\">here you go<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Time to self-reflect: How has the <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/votes\/2010\/10\/07\/media-comes-under-fire-in-election-panel\/\" target=\"_blank\">media fared in this election<\/a>, has the media put Ford into place and then tore him down, and where are the, you know, real issues (see: governance) in the headlines? Some of the topics brought up by a panel of seasoned journalists, and then somewhat\u00a0defended\u00a0after the audience had a lot to say in an election panel earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 And then the game of who-likes-who in politics \u2014\u00a0the endorsements. With the last couple of weeks seeing the endorsements starting to roll out, the frontrunners are receiving their share of love. Mayoral drop-out Giorgio Mammoliti jumped behind Ford, Sarah Thomson aligned with Smitherman, current mayor David Miller shook hands with Joe Pantalone and retiring Councillor Mike Feldman got behind Rocco Rossi. But what do endorsements really mean and how much weight do they pack, <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/votes\/2010\/10\/08\/the-endorsement-race\/\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Csercsa explores<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In bite-sized election-related news:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <em>Spacing&#8217;s <\/em>fl\u00e2neur, Shawn Micallef, follows <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2010\/10\/05\/a-journey-into-rob-ford-fest-the-best-party-in-town-complete-with-meat-coors-light-eye-of-the-tiger-moms-and-mostly-canadians\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rob Ford and his, well, BBQs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 And a number of politicians \u2014\u00a0including Mayor Miller, Pantalone, John Tory and Smitherman \u2014\u00a0came out to <em>Spacing&#8217;s <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2010\/10\/05\/spacing-come-to-our-release-party-wednesday-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">release party of the new issue<\/a>.
