So at some point in the next few weeks I’ll likely be going to check out You Are Here: the emotional geography of place, a group show at Eastern Front Gallery. There’s about 30 artists in the show, with a few names I recognize from the east coast as well as from here. The psychogeographicoartistically inclined can find more information on this Saturday’s opening by clicking here.

If you’re looking to do second that geographic emotion on Sunday, check out the Power Plant’s Creative Cities: Hype or Hope? panel at 4pm. Even if Richard Florida is a weirdo — or if he isn’t — what will we do with his theories? Considering the city says it wants to make investing in “the arts” a priority, it might be worth hashing out exactly what this means. (Free easels on every street corner? Picasso-worshipping rituals in Nathan Phillips Square? Or, perhaps most preposterously, artist housing in the arts and design district?) For more info on the panel, which seriously does look good, my Florida-jibing aside, click here.

While I’ve been getting emotional at other places on the Wire lately, I find it’s nice to get a little more geographically diverse in emotion from time to time.
