Glen Murray, former mayor of Winnipeg, recently wrote in the Toronto Star about the new visions being put forth for our transit stops. Spacing is all for making our stations vibrant visual landmarks, but do not malign what we currently have. Yes, the stations along the Bloor-Danforth and Yonge lines remind some people of public washrooms, but the design qualities (consistency in colour schemes and patterns, not to mention one of the best Modern display fonts going) are historically/culturally significant to this city and should not be thrown away without due consideration.

Vision #1: TTC commissioners will be debating on Wednesday whether Fleet Street should be home to the city’s next streetcar right-of-way (it would run between Bathurst and Strachan just north of Lake Shore Blvd).
