Today’s Globe and Mail has an interesting article on the drive to unionize Toronto’s bike couriers<\/a><\/strong>. As it stands, most couriers earn about $15,000 a year and have no benefits. They face serious health risks working in the middle of heavy downtown congestion, nevermind the constant threat of car-on-courier accidents. But there are a mix of emotions surrounding the Canadian Union of Postal Workers’ attempt to bring the radical side of parcel delivery on side. <\/p>\n

From an outsider’s point of view, a union for the hoof and pedal clan seems like a perfect match. Bike couriers do not take any bullshit, and a union would give them the voice and support dearly needed when your livelihood, and your life, could be ended with the careless opening of a car door.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
