Streets are for People<\/a> is taking advantage of a unique opportunity — the closure of stretches of Dundas West for streetcar track upgrading — to hold a picnic and open-air screening of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure<\/em> in the middle of the street. Here’s their announcement:<\/p>\n

3rd Annual
\nSTREETS ARE FOR PICNICS!<\/p>\n

this Tuesday June 5th
\nfind us in the construction zone on
\nDundas St. west, near Ossington
\n7pm till 11pm<\/p>\n

The work crews finish around 6pm. At 7pm we’ll take over this public space normally dominated by smog-belching automobiles and make it over into a picnic ground.<\/p>\n

We’ll play giant games. We’ll have a set of acoustic music by the New Kings, bring instruments to join along. Then we’ll settle in and get comfortable for a mid-street screening of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.<\/p>\n
