What&#8217;s kinda neat to see is that the subways first appeared in the Brooklyn area, not in the dense downtown area. And if you like subway maps, check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/nycsubway.org\/maps\/historical.html\">many different NYC subway map manifestations<\/a> dating back to the 19th century (or go to a local Subway sandwich shop and look at the walls).<\/p>\n<p>This post is also an open challenge: <strong>the person who produces the best animated map like this for Toronto&#8217;s subway construction, and sends it to us, will receive a set of Spacing&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/buttons.htm\">subway buttons<\/a> (value $49)<\/strong>.
