I spent the last few days moving into my new place in Parkdale, so I was traveling by cargo van or car half the time. On Monday, I headed north on Dufferin and made a left west on to Queen. My girlfriend noticed that Gladstone and Queen to the east was blocked off by police tape. She could also see a bike under a truck. In the evening, she heard a streetcar driver talking glibly to a passenger about a “schmuck who slid under a truck and went splat. Dead.” <\/p>\n

Spacing<\/em> editor Shawn Micallef passed the scene around the same time as me and wrote about it<\/a> on the Toronto Psychogeography Society blog. There were no media reports in any of the papers.<\/p>\n

If we push our City Councillors to full-heartedly implement their very own Bike Plan<\/a>, it is quite possible that car-on-cyclist collisions will decrease significantly. And we can avoid ugly and unnecessary scenes like some of us saw yesterday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
