Mayor David Miller asked the provincial government to enact back-to-work legislation, which was unanimously approved by MPPs.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, a wide range of Torontonians <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2008\/04\/25\/ttc-workers-to-strike-at-midnight\/\">voiced their opinion<\/a> that the TTC should be declared an essential service.
