If you pass quickly, you could miss them, but look closely and you will see men, women, and children, from all over the world, looking back at you.<\/p>\n<p>The portraits are part of a installation called <a href=\"http:\/\/arrivals.ca\/\"><em>Fresh Eyes<\/em><\/a>, <em><\/em>created as part of an ongoing Toronto-based public art project by <em>Arrivals.ca<\/em> and commissioned by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toronto2015.org\/\">TO2015<\/a> Pan\/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee and its Arts and Culture Advisory Council.<\/p>\n<p>Transparent photographs depicting the eyes of new Canadian immigrants have been applied to the windows of the city councillors\u2019 offices, creating a striking view from the square. The goal of the photographic installation is to tell the stories of new Canadian citizens and to celebrate diversity in our city through visual art. Their placement over the windows of the councillors&#8217; offices allow city officials to &#8220;see through the eyes of a new citizen&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/?attachment_id=32166\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-32166\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-32166\" title=\"FreshEyes2\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/network\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2012\/07\/FreshEyes2-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2012\/07\/FreshEyes2-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2012\/07\/FreshEyes2.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Fresh Eyes<\/em> debuted this July in celebration of the three-year countdown to the Toronto Pan Am Games opening ceremony. The project seeks to reflect the games\u2019 goal to be \u201cinclusive, welcoming, and a celebration of all citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The portraits in Nathan Phillips Square will be on display until the end of July.
