And lots and lots of white.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"More...\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nomeancity.net\/wp-includes\/js\/tinymce\/plugins\/wordpress\/img\/trans.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-31976\" title=\"w_DSC_3212\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/network\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2012\/07\/w_DSC_3212.jpg\" width=\"461\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2012\/07\/w_DSC_3212.jpg 800w, https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2012\/07\/w_DSC_3212-600x399.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 461px) 100vw, 461px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For more pictures, see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nomeancity.net\/?p=2720\" target=\"_blank\">the slideshow at No Mean City<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The office occupies one floor of the Brutalist Thomson Building at Queen and Bay, and Watson left the mechanics and the structure of the building exposed along the outer walls and the ceiling. Within that envelope of concrete, there are smooth textures and a very clear plan. The office is neatly divided in three strips: one public space, one for circulation and meeting rooms, and one\u00a0for operations. In the open zone, the traders and analysts are\u00a0arranged together in a long continuous line of desks from analysts to accountants. It is a financial assembly line. But the sculptural &#8220;icebergs&#8221; that wrap it\u00a0are tremendously well-executed, right down to the printer bays with counters that serve as meeting points within the open office. The irregular forms even control the acoustics.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-31968\" title=\"Polar_Axo\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/network\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2012\/07\/Polar_Axo-791x1024.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I wrote about it for Azure&#8217;s June issue.
