{"id":328,"date":"2005-11-16T19:16:21","date_gmt":"2005-11-16T23:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spacingtoronto.ca\/?p=328"},"modified":"2005-11-16T19:17:19","modified_gmt":"2005-11-16T23:17:19","slug":"union-station-precinct-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2005\/11\/16\/union-station-precinct-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Union Station Precinct Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/union_station\/images\/us_123.jpg\" alt=\"Union Station\" align=right \/><\/p>\n<p>As part of the planned renovation of Union Station, the city is holding a &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/union_station\/\">precinct study<\/a>&#8221; to look at how to renovate the area around the station &#8212; one of the most heavily used pedestrian areas in the city, but one whose decrepit state does not reflect its importance to the city.<\/p>\n<p>Two public meetings are scheduled to enable the public to provide input into this process:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The second in a series of public forums that are part of an ongoing Union Station precinct study will be held on Tuesday, December 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Metro Hall Rotunda, 55 John Street. The forum will include a presentation at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The December 13 forum seeks public input on options for Front Street, alternatives for a future north west PATH connection from Union Station and options for possible construction over the Union Station trainshed. <\/p>\n<p>A further precinct study public forum scheduled for February 21, 2006, will examine urban design options for the precinct study area and heritage guidelines under consideration.<\/p>\n<p>The precinct study includes a heritage conservation district study, urban design work and transportation planning elements for the area around Union Station.
