Everyone should walk the streets that night to banish their fear of the darkening city.

Closing Gould Street – Tuesday Oct. 28.

Ryerson students have been campaigning to get Gould Street, at the heart of their campus, closed to traffic. For the moment, they are at least closing it for one day (well, from 10:00 to 4:00). Here’s what they say:

Most students at Ryerson agree that closing Gould Street to regular traffic would make life a lot easier — not only would making it to class be faster and safer, but it would provide more student space for events and entertainment on campus. Closing Gould Street would help Ryerson University become more environmentally friendly, because it would promote the use of public transit to and from campus and demonstrate what a car-free community would look like.On October 28, we are going to demonstrate support in a major way. We going to close Gould Street!!

Featuring:

Live Music
Salsa performance & lessons
Beatbox performance & workshop
Street Hockey
Henna Tattoos
Ryerson’s own video booth “speakers corner”
Interactive T-Shirt making
Banner Painting
Media Art Displays
Hot chocolate
And much, much more

All these actions and performances will be interactive and turn Gould Street into a student-friendly environment not a space for cars to pollute!

More info on Facebook.

Black Creek Storytelling Parade

This sounds interesting.
