This is part of a new Soci&eacute;t&eacute; Radio-Canada development plan that is meant to re-link the street grid through the site. Meanwhile, the MTQ continues to wallow with plans to build a new trench highway along Notre Dame Est.<\/p>\n<p>&bull;  Michael Dunkelman writes about the <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2009\/01\/17\/an-new-opportunity\/\">closure of the Hippodrome<\/a>. Though it will have a negative effect on Quebec&#8217;s horse-breeding industry, it&#8217;s a wonderful opportunity to develop low-income housing for thousands of families.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; Starting January 28th, the Office de Consultation Publique de Montr&eacute;al (OPCM) is holding a meeting for a <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/montreal\/2009\/01\/19\/upcoming-consultation-for-place-lacadie-redevelopment\">residential development plan<\/a> in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
