We&#8217;ll be on the lookout for websites outside the country that approach themes related to urban experiences and issues in Toronto.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&bull; This past Sunday, on the sixth and last <a href=\"http:\/\/sundaystreetssf.com\/\" target=\"_self\">\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcSunday Street&#8217;<\/a> of the year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2009\/09\/07\/BAMF19JIOO.DTL\" target=\"_self\">thousands<\/a> of San Francisco residents enjoyed car free streets from <a href=\"http:\/\/sundaystreetssf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/august9_fullroute_v2.jpg\" target=\"_self\">Golden Gate Park to the San Francisco Zoo<\/a>. Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.streetfilms.org\/archives\/san-franciscos-foggy-sunday-streets-2009\/\" target=\"_self\">streetfilms.org<\/a> for video footage<a> <\/a>from the popular event.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; Detroit, Michigan, already long emblematic of urban decline, <a href=\"http:\/\/dc.streetsblog.org\/2009\/09\/08\/d-day-approaches-for-detroit-transit-riders\/\" target=\"_self\">will likely soon face drastic cuts to its public transit<\/a>. The city&#8217;s $300 million dollar budget gap will reportedly result in massive cutbacks to Detroit&#8217;s bus system, directly effecting the over 24, 000 residents who do not own cars.<\/p>\n<p>&bull;  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lanefab.com\/\" target=\"_self\">LaneFab<\/a> (the creation of carpenter <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lanefab.com\/construction-by-mat-turner\/\" target=\"_self\">Mat Turner<\/a> and designer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lanefab.com\/design-by-bryn-davidson\/\" target=\"_self\">Bryn Davidson<\/a>) is a unique design scheme intended to increase density in downtown Vancouver by turning the city&#8217;s abundance of alleys and laneways into viable housing. Infilling of these areas behind residents&#8217; homes is now possible as a result of a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/canada\/british-columbia\/story\/2009\/07\/29\/bc-vancouver-lane-way-housing.html\" target=\"_self\"> bylaw passed by city council in July<\/a> that allows homeowners to covert their laneways into rental housing.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; According to England&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/worldnews\/article-1211158\/The-Jungle-closed-French-Immigration-Minister-month.html\" target=\"_self\">Daily Mail<\/a>, a large squatter settlement in Calais, France could be &#8220;razed to the ground&#8221; within the next month.
