{"id":655,"date":"2006-03-29T15:14:41","date_gmt":"2006-03-29T19:14:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spacingtoronto.ca\/?p=655"},"modified":"2013-01-21T14:18:48","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T19:18:48","slug":"activate-the-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2006\/03\/29\/activate-the-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Activate the Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/images\/ActivateTheParkinvite.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Activate the Park<\/strong><br \/>\nButterfield Park, south end of OCAD building  100 McCaul Street<br \/>\nThursday March 30, 3-6pm<\/p>\n<p>If you have a some free time on Thursday afternoon, you should check out the OCAD Interaction Design students&#8217; presentations &#8212; 15 interactive public space projects are to be displayed in Butterfield Park (under the OCAD &#8220;tabletop&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>First year interaction design students at the Ontario College of Art and Design have been charged with the task of &#8220;Activating the Park.&#8221; Nestled underneath architect Will Alsop&#8217;s now-famous &#8220;tabletop&#8221; is Butterfield Park, a new and beautiful urban park, but one people don&#8217;t linger in &#8212; it&#8217;s a space to pass through, not stop and reflect on the space or interact with others. Each of 15 classes has created a different dynamic environment.<br \/>\n&bull; Interactive graffiti walls<br \/>\n&bull; Communal music making<br \/>\n&bull; Radio controlled homage to Pimp My Ride<br \/>\n&bull; Human Statues<br \/>\n&bull; A food fight<br \/>\n&bull; A peepshow in the park<br \/>\n&bull; A pi\u00e0\u00b1ata in the park<br \/>\n&bull; Paint hockey<br \/>\n&bull; Giant movable cubes<br \/>\n&bull; A Toronto memory map<br \/>\n&bull; A race with a &#8220;randomizer&#8221;<br \/>\n&bull; Giant toys<br \/>\n&bull; And more\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<p>The entire park is the canvas, and passersby are the subjects.
