{"id":667,"date":"2006-04-03T02:06:38","date_gmt":"2006-04-03T06:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spacingtoronto.ca\/?p=667"},"modified":"2013-01-21T14:20:11","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T19:20:11","slug":"so-long-secret-swing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/2006\/04\/03\/so-long-secret-swing\/","title":{"rendered":"So long, secret swing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"475\" height=\"316\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/52\/121662761_5d60009ba6.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rannie Turingan just sent us an email saying that the secret swing, located just off Graffiti Alley behind the shops of Queen West, has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.photojunkie.ca\/archive\/2006\/04\/secret-swing-rip-again\/\">boarded up and completely removed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Back in December, Corwyn Lund&#8217;s Secret Swing installation had the seat and a few rings of the chain removed. But within days, two people named Vince and Kai fixed it, leaving an inscription on the seat that said, &#8220;The Secret Swing belongs to the people of Toronto.&#8221; Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/toronto\/index.php?s=secret+swing\">two previous Wire posts<\/a> about the swing and some photos.<\/p>\n<p>In just two weeks we&#8217;ve lost two great little public interventions. Sadly, we must accept this as a part of living in a city where things are often transient and ephemeral. While it is frustrating to see these losses, it also means we have other surprises waiting for us, other projects in the works that can inspire and make us smile slyly.
