The winners of the 50th Annual Heritage Toronto Awards were presented on Monday, October 20, 2025 at the Carlu event venue. Spacing has been the media sponsor of this event for 10 years and sells all of the book award nominees<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Five winners were named from 60 nominees in three categories: Book<\/a>, Public History<\/a>, and Built Heritage<\/a>. Each category was independently judged by a jury of experts. In addition, a People’s Choice Award was announced, selected by Heritage Toronto supporters and event attendees from among the Public History nominees.<\/p>\n

At the ceremony, the Heritage Toronto Board presented the Special Achievement Award to Michael McClelland for his 30-plus years of work growing our understanding of the intricate connection between heritage and culture and furthering discourse on heritage’s role in inclusive, sustainable urban development. They also presented the Volunteer Service Award to Kathy Grant for her extraordinary work amplifying Black Canadian history and for her support of the organization’s public programs.<\/p>\n
